type deprecated?

"type: Do not use this field as it's been deprecated."

Is this actually true? I have found no evidence of this anywhere else. The history of this article tells me that the field has alledly been deprecated since at least February 2011, which seems even more unlikely. Can anyone confirm this? --m.fibbo 12:27, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

That part seems to be copied from the old official docs when the page was originally made. It's since been changed to return an integer value (before it was a string such as "newsfeed"). --tim.tisdall 15:42, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
